Welcome to permies, Pat! If you chip these trees green and there's lots of leaf (needle) matter in there, the pile will heat up and start to compost nicely on its own. Turn it once or twice if you're able, then use the partially rotted wood chips as mulch. It will continue breaking down and the soil underneath will benefit. I've used lots of cypress, mostly macrocarpa, lawsonii and Leyland in this manner. The wood is a little slower to decompose than pine but it does lots of good wherever you use it.
