My friends who live in Nicaragua are looking for a local source for open pollinated vegetable seeds; squash, basil, tomato, parsley, choi, beets, kale, chard, beans, corn, pretty much everything. As you may know, permaculture and good quality OP/OG seeds are hard to find in Nica, and getting things shipped there is really difficult if not impossible. My friends need contacts with locals in Nica who have seeds to sell or trade. Please help.
Hi Stephen and welcome to Permies!
Hopefully your friends will find a response here. I'm sorry I can't help. My suggestion would be to try and reach out locally - talk to neighbours and friends and see what they are growing and where they get their seeds from. Local food markets may have some good local varieties of produce that can be regrown (in the case of root veg.) or sown (in the case of fruit) to make new plants/seed. They would have to talk to the vendors to find out about the plant varieties though.
Good luck.
