Surely someone else has discovered this. I was headed to the compost bin with a gallon of aged urine when I spotted a new fireant nest in the center of newly sprouted kale. I was angry and poured the urine, which had a strong ammonia smell, on the nest. Next day as I passed the ants had quit expanding the nest and the day after that they were all dead or gone. I then tried this on another huge ant hill. It took two applications and four days but now that nest is dead. I believe the ammonia killed the queen as well as the workers.
Please let me know if anyone has success with this method.
