Hello - new to the forum and looking for some advice. My lawn is a patchwork of different breeds of grass - I’m stumped at how best to seed it and take care of it.

The majority of the grass is Zoysia. There were large trees taken out from the front yard and the previous owners put down fescue sod in those areas. I guess my ultimate question is - how do I get some consistency or is that even possible? When the zoysia is dormant the lawn looks like a camo blanket. Also - where I have bare spots or areas that need seeding, would it be better to plant fescue grass seed that’s easy to find or drop in zoysia plugs??

Which grass do you like best?

Based on my love of grass I feel I would like Zoysia the best.

I bet the runners could be cut off and rooted in water making more grass by planting the rooted runners.

If you don't want to go that route, my suggestion would be to buy seeds for the grass that you like best.
