Our new house plans are being drawn and we want to include solar energy into the building process.
Because this is a new endeavor, and so many resources exist, where do we start?

Being self starters, we will utilize any direction given.

Excited to be part of Permies,

I suggest finding a local solar energy installer. When choosing a solar installer you should use the same methods that you would use when choosing a builder, doctor, plumber, etc., check their experience and references. A local installer will be familiar with your specific climate and what type of systems work best in your area. Then get a second opinion.

Check the yellow pages. Go to your local energy fair. Check with your local or state chapter of the American Solar Energy Society and/or the Solar Energy Industries Association.

Bob,

Thank you, so much, for this information.

This is exciting to have direction. Being engaged in searching for more earth friendly building designs/systems is fascinating, making the whole process of building a home, more meaningful.

Have a blessed day,

Joleen Barce

It was a ray gun. And now this tiny ad insists on being addressed as "Ray":
