Hi Bob thanks for answering questions here. How small of a thermal storage tank would you consider as a minimum for domestic hot water/pex type heat transfer sysem for a home with 4 people in zone 7a?

I am sorry but I do not have enough information to answer that question. To get it right is a complicated exercise. My book does go through the process.

Are there formulas to figure this out from room size, collector size, efficiency of collector, etc? I think I probably need more research.

The size of the building, insulation values, heat loss calculations and climate all come into play here as well as the type of collector you want to use.

Yup, more research.
