onto the next berries

Just as the strawberries are ending (and we had a lot of them), the first picking of wild raspberries in the yard took place today. In a few days its going to be a raspberry explosion. All the bushes are hanging with tons of berries. Due to the drought, the berries are small. Now I just need some vanilla ice creme.

When these are done the blackberries will be ready to pick.

Having a near constant run of berries has been one of my garden goals.
First up are the haskap. They start for us in early to middle June. I do have to net them since the robins are raising babies and cedar waxwing scouts come around.
As they are wrapping up, the strawberries are starting. We have a great pick-your-own place nearby so I do buy some since the birds only leave us the pineberries.
The sour cherries typically start during the strawberry run and continue until the black raspberries are in full flow. ( this is now) The Saskatoon berries run concurrently to the sour cherries but we don't get many as they mostly distract the birds from the cherries.
The black raspberries, boysenberries and summer red and yellow raspberries as well as the currents all will keep trickling in for the next few weeks. Near the end of the black raspberries, the blueberry farm down the road will open up for more pick-your-own.
When all those are done, it's time for our Summercrisp pears and the plums.
By the time the kiwi berries are ripe in Sept, I'm almost berried out!
