I have 2 Princeton Elms that I would like to propagate with cuttings, any one got some good sugestions? I tried cutting late in the season (aug) like some sites suggested but nothing took. Does anyone use that Root Tone stuff for this type of stuff. Id probably just go get some more but they are expensive and hard to find.
No, they are American elms, said to have resistance to dutch elm disease and elm yellows. Did you use rooting hormones when trying? I don't think you'll have much luck unless you are.
Yes the princeton elm is an American elm. Mine are 6yrs olds and already 45 foot tall and at least 8 inch trunk. It's no wonder elms were so popular before dutch elm disease. I an going to try some with rooting hormone and some with out. Hopefully some thing takes.

The trees make very long straight branches that grow about 45 degrees up from the trunk.. I've made trellis for tomatos, peas and beans out of them and they have held up very well. But most have been only as thick as my thumb. They also make perfect marshmallow roasting sticks for the kids.
girl power ... turns out to be about a hundred watts. But they seriously don't like being connected to the grid. Tiny ad:
