It is my opinion that there's a method to create a no burp scenario when fermenting em1.  My choice is to use a milk jug, but filled 80 percent. Then squeezing the jug, it can be sealed with the water level at the top, leaving very little air gap.  This then leaves room for the ferment to off-gas, as the jug can expand as it's needed.
