I just learned about a project funded on Kickstarter that others here may be interested in. It is an app which simulates a sustainable homestead and shows people how to build it. It looks so cool. I just ordered myself one. They will be released in October.

From the website:

Pre-order access for our Land Lab Off-Grid Simulator. This web app contains a database of dozens of over 120 off-grid systems for providing water, food, shelter, sanitation, and energy. We'll be adding dozens of new systems monthly. This app clearly illustrates the inputs and outputs required and generated for off-grid living.
