I'm interested in hiring one or more individuals for help on a small construction project in the desert.
The property will most likely be in AZ, NM or Southern Colorado. I have many I'm considering, but still in the due diligence phase.
I'm posting here because I'm trying to avoid hiring a general contractor to take the reigns on the entire project. Rather, I'd like to work with like-minded individuals who can think outside the box, and I know there are many here.
I plan on abiding by all local requirements in terms of permitting, etc.
Although I will undoubtedly hire certain functions out, I'm most interested in a second set of hands and a second or third brain to come up with something unique.
This would not be in a volunteer capacity. I would pay an agreeable price for the help, and cover all costs you may have during your time there.
As I'm not hiring a general contractor, I wouldn't expect said help to be a master of all trades.
Instead, any skills you could bring to the table are all valuable to me.
This could be anything from carpentry skills to landscape to the design elements or drawing (i.e. submissions for permits.)
If you decide to spend a significant amount of time on the project, we could start with building a temporary liveable structure or talk about similar options.
I want this to be worthwhile to anyone involved, so please let me know some of your specific needs, if interested, and tell me as much as you can!
Timeframe may be roughly 1-2 months from now, but I'm flexible on that.
Thanks for reading!

Hi! I’m totally new to this lifestyle so I’m hard-working and eager to learn but don’t bring much past experience to the table. I would be looking to learn as I go, so I might not be what you’re looking for. I’m looking to move in the next month and don’t presently have much to offer financially and only a few meager possessions. If you decide I might be a fit in any way feel free to message me anytime.

Hi Jed,

I have some building experience under my belt, mostly interior trim work and cabinet making, but I know how to use tools. I also took half of the classes in the Adobe in Action program, and one of them was on the New Mexico Earthen Buildings Code. So, I might be able to help you with drawing designs for permits, too... at least be able to help figure things out. Anyway, sounds like a potentially rewarding project to get involved in.

Best,

-Kyle
