Thought I would share my herb garden which is being built. Thankfully the snow is finally starting to melt, so I am able to get some work done outside. This bed is about 10 feet from my backdoor and will have all of my culinary staples at the ready. The base is cardboard, followed by wood chips which I gather from all the road work that has been done in my area. Next is a layer of composted straw and chicken manure from the chicken coup. On top is seaweed which I gathered from the beach close by.

As a chef, I find it essential to have an assortment of fresh herbs at the ready and in close proximity to the house. Seedlings are getting bigger in my greenhouse and will be ready to go outdoors in a month or 2.

Welcome to permies Frank
Your photo's on it's side, so I'm finding it a bit hard to see it properly, but it looks good!
I'm an ex-chef, and I know what you mean about having the goodies on-hand...

Thanks Leila!

For some reason, when I add photos here, they end up sideways..
