Had to replace a handle on my wheel barrow yesterday. It is just a temporary fix. I just ripped up a two-by-four and drilled and installed it. Usually I make them out of oak but I need the barrow - had firewood to get unloaded. I've lost count of how many handles I've made for that thing. I got it at a yard sale I believe.

This is why I like 'simple' tools. I do not mean simple in the terms that it is crude, but simple in the terms that it is easy to work on when the time comes around.

Handle broke off my wheelbarrow? No problem!

Blade on my axe is getting dull? No problem!

Try to fix anything on my wife's new Kia? Problem!

Honestly your fix looks great the way it is even if it isn't up to your personal specs. Kind of inspires me to whip up a replacement pair of handles before I need them as my own are getting beat up.

Hey, Timothy, I hear you loud and clear man. There is something about a good tool. An aesthetic about a good knife, a good ax, etc.

An older friend said when he was a lad, they used to make up extra handles (out of hickory) for shovels and rakes and hoes, and store them on the rafters of the work shed. Whenever he broke a shovel handle he would just reach up and get another one.
