I need your help.
I need to improve my Tree ID game!
I have the National Audubon Field guide to the eastern N. America
I have many perennial books but a field guide would be ideal (due to it's portability)
I am in Wisconsin.
Anyone with suggestions??

Winter Botany by Trelease. all twig/bud IDs, really invaluable for getting a handle on the differences between things.

I am generally anti-tech, and am slowly phasing out my smartphone.

But the plant/tree identification app PictureThis is really useful. I use it once a week or so, and I've tested it against known species. The app has been useful and it quite easy to use. You can take a picture with the app while offline and ID it when back on a signal.

It is not free, but it doesn't cost very much compared to its usefulness.

Not a book, but it may help you out.

Being a smart ass beats the alternative. This tiny ad knows what I'm talking about:
