Ciao tutti! Hi Everyone!
A happy Buongiorno to everyone from me (Diane) and my husband (Nick). We are Canadian from the west coast. We are both retired (63 & 64) and even though most people would be relaxing with their feet up and enjoying a long-awaited rest, we decided to start a new adventure!

In September, my husband and I bought an olive orchard on the side of a steep hill in the Platani Valley in Sicily. We have 200 olive trees and a bunch of various fruit and nut trees including pear, lemon, almonds, pomegranate, and some that we won't know what they are until springtime comes. We also have a long hedge of cactus that provide more prickly pear than we will ever be able to eat.
Halfway up the hill are two flat fields that are currently empty. We plan to dig a swale and plant a tree guild on the top field. The lower field is right below the upper field and we plan to plant our vegetable garden there.  But, our first job is to get some work done on the house so that we can move in there by next year.

We are looking forward to getting to know some of you!

Diane and Nick

Welcome to Permies!

I dream of Olive Groves... but I am in New York in the USA! What an exciting and promising homestead ya'll have. I hope you post your discoveries and projects in the future so I can vicariously live through them haha.

I'll see you in the threads.
