This can be an amazing thing to hear. And it can also be a terrible thing to hear.
It starts off with observing that something isn't going well, and then, as the director, giving som direction: "Rather than wrapping it around, try to put the cord so that it can rest loosely."
"Why?"
Sometimes the "Why?" means "Yes, I will do it as you say because I have never done this before. And, I am sure that the reason to do it that way is interesting!"
Sometimes the "Why?" means "Why should I deviate from perfection?" or "You're so stupid that you obviously don't know that this is the superior way. But since I am a good person, I will lower myself to enter into a conversation with a feeble minded person such as yourself so that you might be able to learn. I suppose there is a sliver of a chance that you have accidentally stumbled on knowledge from somebody else, so I will generously give you 11 seconds to state your case."
On the 80 acres in 2005, I felt like I got a lot of the second kind. I thought back to the part of where I could probably reduce 80% or more of that by conveying a lot of my knowledge set. So then I got to thinking about how does one convey that knowledge set. And that is a big part of how the forums came to be. And why I like the idea of people coming to the land after listening to the podcasts.
A lot of the things I do, or advocate, are very different from the conventional. Different from organic. Different even from most other permaculture practices. And when I visit with somebody that has listened to all the podcasts, we can talk about things at a much higher level.
