Hi Permies,

I'm starting my permaculture project an hour north of Panama city on a community with lakes and horses.
It's ground start from zero funded by me on one and half acres with additional land available. If you're interested on land sharing or caring for the land for food and shelter this will be a great opportunity.

So far I've started rain collection in ponds and more than 300 flower seedlings to get a head start on getting food ready for bees.
(If you're looking for a weekend escapade on May 3-5 and May 10-12 there will be planting and water well drilling with that good old elbow grease. I'll feed you kombucha)

I've already started collecting rain water for the plants and there's going to be a few phases happening over the next few months with all the action happening on weekends.

May:
1. Planting of flowers and fast growing fruits (dandelions, bee balm, watermelon, melons, milkweed, clover, luffa....)
2. Building of work benches (drill press, router table...)
3. Building aerobic composters
4. Starting tests for cob/straw-clay mixes
5. Water well lining and more ponds
6. Earthen A/C

June:
1. Footings and foundation work for a two story dome
2. Structure for cob walls of the dome
3. Second round of food planting
4. Planting of vetiver rows for water treatment

July:
1. Filling cob walls
2. Cut and installation of dome beams
3. Planting more food (maybe bring in the bees?)
4. It is going to be hot

August:
1. Finish dome estructure
2. Install first solar panels
3. Build solar boilers and heat storage tanks

September:
1. Finish stairs, second floor, bath and kitchen
2. Build water cistern
3. Some of that good old satellite Internet
4. More planting
5. Biogas plant

October:
1. Move in bb!
2. Dogs and cats
3. Rabbits and ducks?? I want them for compost but you're welcome to savour them

Let me know if you are interested and if you're coming from far away we can camp out the days that we'll be there.

Looks like that algae is the iron bearing type. There's a guy that lives primitive and he smelted the iron out of it. Not suggesting that as a revenue stream. Just interesting. You could check by touching it with a magnet.

The smelting furnace for recycling is still quite away but if those plants are high in iron it might worthwhile to add scrap metal to the bottom of the pond and check the iron recycling efficiency in a wino-g column.
P.S. Two of the hardest workers arrived a few days ago

Today might be the day to grab a couple of chicks, their mealworms are brooding and their sunflowers are sprouting.
Meanwhile.....
The guest of honor made an appearance by the pond

The rabbits have been making great feed for the worms. Three rabbits out eight ran away over a period of three days and the other ones always come back after roaming freely around their enclosure...Long life to my free spirited furry children.

My mealworm farm to feed the carnivores and chicks had been making great progress, many had morph into their puppa stage but then during a recent storm I left the roof slightly opened and a few hours later the bed had flooded, the oatmeal swelled and I only able saved a few bettles, larva and puppa. It was so upsetting to go from thousands of worms to only a few dozens but the chicks and rabbits enjoyed the treat.

The past weeks have been crazy with foam flying everywhere, a snake eating all the guppies, and rabbits making an cozy burrow.
The aircrete tests for cost, compression, weight, weatherproofing and insulation were amazing. It is strong enough to lay a insulated foundation walls in one go. The sample I'm holding weights less than two pounds, it doesn't have any fibers or reinforcement and it doesn't compress or crumble when I jump on it on flat ground. It didnt fare well with shear stresses when I jumped on it while laying on even ground but straw fibers or metal mesh will fix that.

The main frame for the chicken coop is finished, the door frame and egg hatches will be added before the straw/clay mix.
Let me know if you sell willow cuttings! I bought some expensive ones for a live fence and they didn't survive rooting
