About to order some hybrid poplar (P. x euramericana, which is a hybrid of Eastern cottonwood P. deltoides & European black poplar P. nigra) tubestock.  I have read a few things about Poplar canker, is this a serious problem in the US though or overhyped?  

And does anyone know if coppiced poplars will live longer than the ~ 40-50 years I've seen mentioned?

the poplar here in East Tennessee grow straight and tall and the ones ive seen seem very healthy. its very popular for sawmill lumber
