ok now a lot of computer things I do know... but what I don't know, its one of those I really have absolutely not the slightest idea how to even figure it out at all. this would be one of those things....

so... lets say my video is 612MB and I have to upload it where my max is 500MB... how can I squish it without actually cutting the time down?

Will it be viewed directly from the site you are uploading to? Or is that just 'storage'?

If it is just a storage area, you could compress the file with WinZip, PKZIP, or another "zipper".
However, nobody could view it without first 'unzipping' it.

If it is for public viewing, such as YouTube, you could lower the resolution a tad, and save some MBs.

Could use handbrake to re-encode it, haven't used it in a while but I think you can tell it you want the new version to be 500mb and it will adjust the bitrate.

ok i'm not sure exactly how it worked but it did! hahahaha!

ended up redoing the video slightly shorter (luckily ended up likin it better too)... upload to youtube and edit and add pics I wanted... download back to computer.... says its 9.05MB! the original plain video before uploaded to youtube says 193MB!

so I don't know how exactly it works but I managed to get it! thanks so much though!

Looks like youtube re-encodes for you.

If you need tools for other video stuff, lots of info here.
Forum is mainly for DVD, but they use all the tools.
