Buiding Earthship in Oklahoma

Hey all. My wife and I are currently working toward building a Global model styled Earthship in Northeast Oklahoma. We have purchased land, and are gathering materials. So far we have a about 1,000 cans, a few hundred bottles, 5 glass panels for front face, and about 50 tires. We have begun construction of a can wall cistern to catch water from an existing barn. We will use this water for future cement and adobe mud mixing, and eventually for the household water in the earthship itself. We plan on using a green roof on the earthship, as our summer temps well exceed those in the Taos area, and we hope that a green roof will further insulate and help cool the structure.

As of now we have yet to excavate the building site, but as soon as we do we will begin tire layout and will be searching for volunteer helpers to pound tires, lay can walls, mix mortar etc.... We started a Facebook group page to keep those interested in helping out informed of our work efforts, and to sort of "blog" our progress. Is there anyone else in this forum around the Area of Kansas, OK? OUr land is approximately 45 minutes from Fayetteville, AR, and about one hour east of Tulsa, OK. Any advice, help or donated materials like cans bottles, glass, and tires would be appreciated.

i too am building a house from natural resources on property. round timber, cord wood, stone, cob. i have my friends saving and collecting bottles for me, but the thought has crossed my mind to find a bar that would save them for me. one weekend at a busy bar should give you a good stock of bottles. i also see lots of "curb alerts" on craigs lost for free left overs. it's also a good source for most building materials. i plan to spend some time on there when i am ready for things like doors, windows and electrical. i am looking for a source for lime mortar. as far as tires go, any tire shop will probably let you have all the tires you need as they have to pay to have them hauled off.

I have tried to contact you previously on Earthship.com with no success. I live in SW MO and would like to help you if possible, just for the knowledge.
I live about 45 min. Sw of Joplin, MO. I would like to get started on my own ES, but looking at the numbers for just the first stage, i.e. Tire Works, it will take about $13K just for this stage and I don't want to get to the point it is half finished and I run out of funds. I have land that I live on in a small trailer with my wife. She is not excited about the ES, but thinks anything will be better than the trailer. Socks our cat could care less about any of it. I have some bottles I have been saving that I could donate to your cause, maybe a hundred, mostly white wine type.

We finally finished the tire wall last summer, onto finishing bond beam and pouring footings, then the roof!
