Feeling the need to get our EcoVillage moving here on the Western Slope of Colorado...

With all that is coming down the political and economic horizon, you would think it is a no brainer for people to start thinking about making some preparations. But whatever has happened to the salt of the earth people? We are from the Baby Boomers generation and I am not really speaking about them, yet I find many of them have lost the faith that, 'We can do that!' They are getting up there in years and they are just tired and not up for 'Another Adventure!' Too bad!

But what can I say about the later generations? Well, it involves work and self-discipline, dedication to a higher purpose then themselves, and because it is not handed to them on a platter, just for showing up, because feel they are entitled, well, most of them are not interested, and that go for family as well as friends... I think that generation's salt has lost its savor! That is not to say all it lost, but most of this generation will be...

So why am I posting an ad here then? In hopes of finding some rare individuals, that brake the mold, are worth their salt, and are, 'Up for an Adventure.'

It involves finding that joint dream of building something together... Many people who would consider doing such a thing, readily have a dream of doing it where they live, even though it is an impossibility under their local zoning laws and codes, and they lack of water or land resources needed to build something special there. To make things even more impossible, they are surrounded by to many people living in the center of a large city. This is plainly untenable with what is coming.

There is a balance that needs to be found. Living a lifestyle that you would choose to live even if nothing economically ever does happen (though with GMO's in our food supply now, its here). There needs to be a balance found between amenities and services needed now, verse remoteness and security from civil unrest if it arises in the future. Not living by railroads, major freeways, large airports, military bases, target zones, volcanoes, major earthquake faults, to close to the ocean, not in hurricane or tornado alley, and also not to far to the north nor south, and not to high or low in elevation. We do however live where wild fires could be a threat... good reason to build a bermed earth homes.

We feel we have found that balance. Thank you for listening to my little ranting, but in all seriousness, we are looking for people who want a lifestyle in an EcoVillage, raising our own food, and working together in a community. Sincere people who understand that building a sustainable lifestyle and community is a lot of work, but the rewards are found in the quality of life for ones self and family, the food we eat, the clean water we drink, and the clean air we breath. Getting back in touch with the growing of things, the raising of animals and the natural rhythms of life, allows us to see the creator in all that we are blessed with and is the joy or return we reap. Having ones own home with close friendship in a community of common-minded people who seek to build a similar lifestyle and community is the goal. These kinds of bonds of tribal living is what is missing in our society today. The power of united we stand and the synergy of many hands making ones work load light is just one of many rewards from communal living in an Intentional Community.

Aquapontics - Tilapia in the greenhouses for selling fresh fish, fish jerky, and CSA Shares

Artisan Bakery - for community and selective produce to sell at the farmers markets

Bermed Earth Construction - Building homes partially or completely underground on the north side

Berry Projects - Blackberry, Raspberry, Gooseberry, Saskatoon Berry, Elderberry, and Currents

Cooperative Home School - Seems like a dream but we want to forge the way for this new concept

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) - Selling shares in the Farm's seasonal harvests

Culinary Water System - Drinking water supply to community and to market, filtered Spring PH Water

Drip Irrigation Watering Systems - Water conservation and maximization of usage

Egg & Poultry - Egg Business for Community, Farmers Markets, and CSA, Poultry for Community

Ethanol Fuel - Renewable fuel for four stroke combustible engines, making E-Diesel, and CSA shares

Fish Farming - Renovate and restock the lower trout pond, as well as raising larger Crawdads

Green Building - Exploring and using ecologically sound and innovative building techniques

Greenhouses - Year round production of food and fish through Aquapontics (3000+ sq. ft. currently)

Hoop Houses & Cold Frames - Extend our season on cold-appropriate crops

Micro Brewery - Using our own Hops, Honey, and specialty crops grown for brewing
