Hi all. New here. Came to hopefully find some help. Years ago, my father planted a row of the most wonderfully tasteful muskmelon. It was smooth skinned and two-tone green like a watermelon on the outside. But the fruit inside was orangish and tasted very much like cantaloupe and very tender. They were a little larger than a softball.  He has since passed away, so asking him won’t work. All he ever called them were muskmelons. Until today, I didn’t realize that was a whole genre of melons. Any help would be appreciated.

What you are describing sounds like honeydew melons.

Though this article says:

Cantaloupes (cantalupensis): True cantaloupe melons, different from the American cantaloupe, are common in Europe, particularly France. Most are small and spherical with prominent ribs, resembling a beach ball.
