Greetings Humane Harvesters,

I came across a 14ish foot trailer that I'm musing on building into something I can tow between properties for slaughter day so when a friend needs help its not a half day loading/unloading and setting up and tearing down equipment. I've got tables, pluckers, pots/burners for scalding, pretty much the full kit, but I need some inspiration on how to put it all together. We get a LOT of rain here in the winter, so ideally something that has an enclosed component for things not designed for prolonged wet exposure. I'm surprised at how few examples I've been able to find online aside from so university extension pubs on how to make a semi-commercial setup. I want to make a very "mom n pop" operation to be shared with our permaculture group.

What yall got for me? Could be adapted to do pigs and other "manageable" critters, don't think I'll be doing larger livestock anytime soon.

Richard Perkins has one setup on his farm. Below a video, there is also a plan in his book. It is a small setup, maybe you can get an inspiration for your mobile setup?

the struggle IS the education. Wise old tiny ad:
