Conversion of our first greenhouse. We plant directly to soil, but really need shelter for the early part of our short growing season as we get snow right through mid-May, freeze can occur well into June. We use large mesh fencing on all the windows to keep the cats out, allow birds, bees, other insects in. We encourage the local toads to take up residence, and some do, to help with the less beneficial critters. It has a clothesline, we dry laundry in there year around.
The steep pitched roof means it does not collect more than a couple inches of snow before it clears itself.
As you can see, this unit has been in service since built in summer '16. We expanded our garden and wanted to move this for different sun. I milled some 22ft. skids with the Granberg, lifted it and bolted the whole mess together. We'll use it until the permanently glazed earth sheltered one is ready and then convert this to dry lumber from the new DL swingblade sawmill.
