hi everyone, I used to take pride in my lawn but then something happened to my grass. I was hoping that someone can help me identify the type of grass that i pulled out through the attached pictures. I'm also able to pull out the grass relatively easily in large sections. not like a carpet but in chunks. Any help would be very, very much appreciated!!!
You might have grubs eating the roots. Pick the edge of a dying area and dig to see if you find white grubs. We've had whole patches of our lawn die from feeding grubs. They grow back the next year and the grubs pick other areas the next year. I used Milky Spore to control them but what helped even more was getting rid of our rugosa rose hedge which was attracting all the Japanese Beetles from miles around, which is why I think we got so many grubs!
The First picture looks like "Crabgrass," it's the Bane of my Yard! Second picture I assume is the hole that was left over from the crabgrass. The Third picture looks like a Bermuda Grass Runner. Both grasses are ver invasive and will spread quickly if not delt with. Hope that helps a little!
