Hello!
Me and my husband just bought a 1500 m2 land (0.37 acres I guess) at about 50 minutes away from our home, in a village where a lot of our friends live.
To begin, we want to start by making a cabin and a workshop by planning the space as best as we can. Last year the previous owner had corn on the land, and right now it is clean. As in the picture, the yellow area is ours with the river on the east and the deciduous forest on west side (the forest is very steep).

Where do you think would be best to place the buildings and an orchard? How would you design this area in the most useful way, to grow as much as you can? How could the forest be useful? (I'm a beginner in permaculture, have mercy ).
We would like to consider areas for a veggie garden, chickens and pigs in the future.

Some other info:
- we are in Romania, the zone hardiness is 7a
- the river used to flood those areas in the past and people say the land is very fertile near it (now it has a dam)
- we could visit the property about 2 times a month and stay there for 2-3 days in a row, maybe there is still time to plant something that doesn't require that much attention, like potatoes, corn or onions?
- we would like to start living there in the future and buy some more land, but right now we have a baby and small children and we can't really take care of a homestead (we are taking steps to accomodate with gardening and chickens in our home next to the city) but we afford to start a building this year and an orchard in the fall.

Any idea for our little project is welcome, I would really appreciate also articles regarding permaculture design, or other similar designs, but right now I'm a bit overwhelmed with my family and don't really have energy to research on my own.
The main point is not to let this piece of land be taken by weeds, we want to use it as much as we can.

Thank you and sorry for any misspelling, I don't use English in writing that much...

When we buy raw land the first part of our plan is where to place the house.

We generally pick the place that is the highest.

Is you land flat or does it slope?

Have you observed what happens when it rains?

Does you plan have rainwater catchment so that you will have water or is there city water?

Do you plan any outbuildings?

Will you be just planting annuals or will you have animals?
