We are considering inviting one or two others to come join in our homesteading dream.  We raise kunekune pigs and icelandic chickens.  I also love growing a variety of winter squash.  There is lots of love here, and lots of hard work.  We are on 160 acres which is mostly swamp (so yes that means mosquitos) or woods (which means a wealth of wildlife).  My goal is to create an alternative off-grid private school for young people who aren't served by the traditional education system... but I'll be  honest, I know that could be a few years off.  LOL  We are also working towards building a forest therapy centre (part of my work includes forest therapy and psychological crisis intervention).

I'm a PhD candidate, mom to an almost 18 y/o (how did that happen?!?), a feminist biologist, an educator - which all means that I've spent my life being too much or not enough, and I'm over it.

My partner is a former photographer and communications expert (ex-military).  He is now full time on the homestead.  He's always there, even when I have to be elsewhere.

The almost-18 y/o also lives on the homestead.  He loves info-dumping on his special interests (don't we all).

We are a queer and trans-friendly home - no bigotry allowed.  We are a neurodivergent family, so patience, laughter, love, and big feelings are all allowed and welcomed.  We cherish our quiet time but also love to dance and be loud and hug with gusto.  Due to immense past traumas we all have complex PTSD (though not all for the same reasons) so patience and gentleness is always appreciated even if it's not always easy.

If someone(s) were interested, we are looking for people who would not just work the land with us, but who would be interested in potentially making a long term commitment to the life we are building... as friends or as family.

In the short term we do have one spare bedroom in the main house, but an RV/trailer, yurt, or tent are all things we can happily make room for if you would be interested in building your own place.  We are also open to the idea of someone coming out for the Summer to help work while getting to know us, the animals, and the land before making any kind of commitments.

We aren't looking to add more children to the mix though...  if part of your "package deal" includes a young adult (17+) that is A-okay.  Heck... for the right person I might even be willing to give up my office (we have a "cottage" beside the main house that houses my teen's bedroom on the main floor and my office upstairs).  That might be a big ask though.  LMAO  I LURVE my office.  LOL

I appreciate you sharing. Sounds like a grand adventure. But I'm afraid you're too far away and it isn't an ideal fit

Good luck making your reality come to life!

It's the adventure of a lifetime, truly.  It's not easy, but it's pretty amazing.
Good luck finding your fairy tale beginning!  Everyone deserves an epic story.  I hope you find yours soon.
