Back in 2020 I got a firewood permit from my local national forest. It cost me somewhere around $20. But I recently learned that they have waived the fee for personal use. So you can collect up to 6 cords of wood for free! You still need the permit.

There is a lot of wood that is dead and down along Road 4109, the road to Silver Star Trailhead. I was out there scouting the road last Saturday and I made a video showing some of the logs.
