Recently I just lost a chicken, but there are no traces of it anywhere. I think my cat chased it off somewhere as he keeps getting into the pen and scaring it. I was thinking a rooster would be sufficient enough to scare my cat away, but I’m open to bigger guardian animals that would chase off other predators like turkey or geese. I’m looking for animals that aren’t going to be too big or expensive to keep so no dogs, donkeys, llamas, and etc. What are some other affordable animals that would keep my cats or other medium sized wildlife away?

I do not know the logistics or care requirements for domestic geese but I hear that they can act as protectors of other barnyard fowl.

Nothing like a bigger bird to protect your flock of hens!
