We are seeking an individual or harmonious couple (life-partners, friends, family) to join us in the stewardship and creation of a most unique and special place - an organic food forest, pristine watershed, and nature sanctuary.
We are located in the province of Loja, Ecuador approximately 45 minutes from the village of Vilcabamba, and 1.5 hours from the city of Loja. There is no road access to our location. A well maintained rustic foot-path is the portal.
We have high speed fiber optic internet but no phone service . There is modest, yet clean and comfortable accommodations. We are solar powered with grid back-up. Solitude is abundant here as is peace of mind. In the sanctuary, stewardship and permaculture are a way of life as well as a form of artistic expression.
The areas in which we need the most help at this time are: Building construction, establishment of vegetable gardens, and irrigation.
Duration: A commitment period of not less than 6 months is required and the potential exists for an annual contract as well as for a permanent situation.
As stewards of our site, there are a diverse range of tasks for which we need assistance. This includes everything from organic gardening and orchard maintenance to the maintenance and construction of structures, landscaping, soil ecology, water source management, erosion and fire prevention, dog care and training, micro-business enterprise development, culinary arts, sourcing of goods and services, site security, accounting, and record keeping.
Requisites:
● High integrity, honest, emotionally mature
● Energetic and skilled
● Autonomous self-starter with positive "can-do" attitude
● Passionate about organic lifestyle / permaculture / sustainability
● Capable communicator in both Spanish & English.
● Ability to legally reside within Ecuador during the duration of the contract.
● Comfortable living & working in a remote mountainous area
● Excellent physical & mental health
Compensation: We offer a monthly stipend inclusive of a completion bonus for fulfilling the contract term, a private cabin inclusive of all utilities, and fast internet.
