Registration is now open for Asheville, NC's Urban Farm School 2014! Early bird deadline ends Nov. 1. Includes a PDC April 12-26 (can be taken separately from the full program) + business of agriculture course + farm field trips and classes. http://ashevillage.org/urban-farm-school/

Each month will include skill-building in the following topic areas: Gardening, Herbalism & Wild Edibles, Perennial Agriculture, Food Processing, Natural Building, and Water. Monthly learning tracks will include: Homesteading, Food Justice, Entrepreneurship, and Education.

Testimonial from 2013 student: “I came to the Urban Farm School so I could start my own farm project. I’m leaving with the knowledge on how to do that, plus so much more. I will never look at things the same way again, from how we grow food, to transportation, to society as a whole. Every aspect of my life has been touched by my time here. The UFS has given me what I need to move forward with my dreams, plus the most important thing, community!” ~ Ollie, UFS 2013

Director Stacey Murphy is the founder of BK Farmyards, a decentralized urban farming network based in Brooklyn. She is an architect and engineer and has spent the last two years managing high-yield micro-farms and teaching sustainable agriculture to teens. Her architecture experience has led to theorizing on how best to build a local and just food system.
