process dry legumes: podding, threshing ?

I am not sure is this in the right forums.
Anyway we have harvested our beans and peas(all plants with pods) dried them in our shed. And now its the time to get the beans out of the pods. It is time consuming process to peal each pod with hands. Maybe there are some easy-peasy ways to do that?
Please share your podding/treshing techniques!

One way is to put completely dry pods into a pillowcase, tie one end and set young kids jumping on it!
Tip the crushed pods and loose seeds into a large container while you repeat the process.
Give the container a good shake: the seeds should sink to the bottom.
Scoop out the large pieces of pod, tip the remainder onto a sheet or tarp and get the kids to help hold the corners
and winnow the dust etc out by sort of 'bouncing' the seeds and stuff on the sheet in a gentle breeze.

^^^ +1 on the above. beans are big and heavy enough that they are easy to winnow. it gets hard with wheat and other small grains, IME.

I was told to harvest by pulling the plants out by the roots, hang dry them completely. Then, in a garbage or other large can, hold by the roots and smash the leaves and pods against the inside of the can. I've heard this is a good technique for up to 1/4 acre. It avoids picking the pods and it avoids shelling each pod.

Thank You all, i will try those methods. What about soybeans? Soybean pods seems harder to break, even with me stepping on some of them remains in pods... or maybe i should dry them more? Anyway we do not have much of them, hand labor will fit this year.
