Rancho Sol y Mar (RSM - Rancho "Sun & Sea") is seeking a couple or family with extensive sub-tropical to tropical permaculture experience for homesteading / right livelihood opportunity. We are working ranch and education center located 300 yards from one of the most pristine, undeveloped beaches in Mexico! We farm photon's for our electric needs, produce artisanal goat cheeses & free range eggs, build with adobe, compressed earth block & cob, host educational workshops, and have the amazing good fortune and luxury to do all of this in a wonderful, welcoming little Mexican village, just this side of paradise! We have a fledgling community, although admittedly, it is still mostly a mix of seasonal participants and transient volunteers. We have a stunning 100 acre mix of forest & fields, with hot, rainy, tropical summers, and warm arid winters. While our focus the past several years has been infrastructure buildout focused on creating a campground and hosting facility for sustainability workshops rather than growing food, we do have a nice mix of tropical fruit trees (bananas, coconut palm, mangos, papaya, citrus, etc…) and some small annual gardens started. The couple or family we are looking for would be permaculture based farmers with sufficient experience & resources to create their own homesteading reality using RSM as their launching pad. RSM operates as a co-operative venture with open mind for long term, or even permanent, vested involvement. What we lack are solid growing skills and permaculture experience to round out the food production side of our project. Opportunities for income teaching yoga, permaculture etc. also exist. If this sounds something like the dream you've been harboring, please review our website (wwwdotranchosolymardotcom) to learn more. Information specific to applying can be found at the FAQ's page. Please note that we will only be entertaining proposals from couples/families with extensive permie experience in tropical to subtropical climates. Spanish speakers and experienced latin america travelers will be given preference.
