Our mission is to provide training, workshops, tools, and jobs in sustainable construction and appropriate technology.

We envision a thriving building school and Makerspace that connects people to the tools and training they need to make a living in sustainable building and appropriate technology.

Meiker will provide the people of San Marcos La Laguna with access to education, jobs and resources to better their own lives.Meiker will spread knowledge about natural building techniques and appropriate technologies, contributing to a new generation of informed builders and creators. A self-taught builder, carpenter and barefoot architect, Charlie found his passion for natural building through bamboo, and soon branched out into other sustainable materials and techniques. Building ever-more ambitious projects, he has provided the tools and training for local builders and apprentices to advance in their fields. Charlie has taught several natural building courses, popularizing bamboo building and encouraging a revival in the traditional Mayan earthen technique of bajareque.
