We currently raise goats (we have 7-Nubians and Boers), chickens, and potbelly pigs on 5 wooded acres in east Texas. Due to unexpected circumstances we are looking at options for farm stays or homesteading opportunities. We have a trailer and wanting to relocate our livestock with us if possible.

About us:

* I am a former Apple employee with extensive technical background. I am very good at repairing things and mechanically inclined. I have some remodeling and plumbing skills as well. We are very quick learners and value learning new skills. In my spare time (when it is available, I like to sculpt and make music). My wife is a stay@home teacher for our children. My wife loves to work outdoors with the animals, canning foods, cooking, reading, and teaching.

* Our children are very hard workers when it comes to helping with the animals, gardening, outdoor chores, and are well behaved. They interact well with each other.

* We are a very close-knit family and very communicative with each other. We enjoy doing things together as a family. We enjoy exploring our 5 wooded acres and camping.

* We have been making our own wine, but do not engage or permit drunkenness.

* We practice survival skills and can live in primitive housing. (ie; Tipi, Yurt, etc..) Our ideal situation would be to build our own cordwood or earthbag home.

* We are open to a lot of different areas. (Idaho, Kentucky, Arkansas, Missouri, North Carolina, Colorado, Montana, Indiana, Washington, and "possibly" others.)

* Although we value our personal space, we are wanting to be a part of a somewhat like-minded community.

* Our main concern is finding people who have a good moral aptitude.

We are looking to find somewhere before April 2014. We would prefer somewhere other children nearby or on site so our children can socialize. We can discuss more personal ideals via email at suzanneclark2013@yahoo.com or by telephone number provided through a PM through this site.

Hello Andrew and Suzanne and welcome to permies! Your family seems like a solid group and ideal neighbors for my ideal community. I am a couple years shy of offering you guys a stay at my homestead but if I was there I would. Godspeed on your search.

I wish you the best of luck on your journey. I don't have the living space here for you, we also are a family of seven, but you sound like a great addition to an existing community.
