I'm shopping for incubators. The plan is to sell heritage chicks.

Often, a minimum order from a grower can be 100 chicks. What happens if I get several orders? I'll need a big incubator or lots of smaller ones.

Here's a video that blew my mind. You get to see inside the big hatchery. I never expected to see live chicks on conveyor belts, etc. I'm not judging right or wrong, I'm boggled at this point.

big incubator, big hatchery

I was thinking I could take the action of a windshield wiper to rock the trays.

This page gives excellent information about how to incubate eggs.

http://www.backyardchickens.com/a/how-to-incubate-hatch-eggs-just-21-days-from-egg-to-chicken

I have seen somebody build an incubator out of an old refrigerator. His had a thermostat, a heating element, a fan, and a tray of water to control humidity. The way he tilted the eggs was by setting a block under one side of the egg carton. Once a day his intern would move the blocks, so on even days the cartons tilted left and on odd days the cartons tilted right. Apparently the fan is not required, and humidity can be controlled using wet sponges or rags.

I'd like to build one out of cardboard boxes. The only thing I need is a cheap thermostat that goes up to 101 degrees
