I am interested in researching the legality of starting a home based farm/ business on commercial or industrial land. I was wondering if anyone had experience with this kind of thing in Michigan or had some helpful links. I tried to google many keywords but nothing too helpful seems to pop up. By the way I am also planning on living on the property too. Thanks!

Generally, commercial/industrial zoning does not allow residential use. This is a question that really has to be researched for the specific case. Land use regs vary enormously, with individual parcels sometimes subject to unique terms.
Plus all the concerns about past uses....
