We have hosted wwoofers for the past three years, very successfully. We have an 18 acre homestead farm, with about 2 acres raised bed gardens and pasture. The rest is gorgeous forest, abutted by 1000s of acres of pure beautiful wooded mountain. If you are really adventurous, we also own 80 acres in nearby Bennington County, high up in the Green Mountains with five springs. You are more than welcome to camp out there, and explore nature in its rawest form. The VT land, named Avalon, is only one hour from our NY farm. Here's our wwoofusa note:

We've got it all, llamas, bees, organic gardens galore. Two greenhouses. We are a busy couple, and welcome a mom and child, two people, a couple, and maybe even a dog if it's small and likes llamas. Ideally you will have your own transportation, interests to pursue when you are not gardening and enjoying the farm, and be able to contribute to groceries. We have five cats too so hopefully the smallish dog likes cats Bee and cat allergies not conducive to this environment. Llama lovers a plus. Private cozy bright beautiful loft for you apart from the house. We share the kitchen, bathrooms etc. We don't sell our produce but we share and trade with neighbors and folks who need food. East of Albany by about 30 miles, near the Berkshires, Williamstown MA, Kripalu, and Bennington, VT. Great location, hoping for a season commitment. Work week is easy, 25 hours per week of mostly gardening, occasional trail work. Hope you like to bike, sail, rock climb, hike, and enjoy the great outdoors.

I teach yoga in town and at a local prison, am nearing certification as a NYS paramedic, am a published writer with an MS from RPI, and my husband is an attorney. Professional people who are looking for a change and to learn how to build their own sustainable homestead are welcome to contact us.

We've had great success with all type of volunteers each season, looking forward to hearing from you. Please see our wwooofusa farm posting: Cherry Plain Sanctuary Farm
