My sweetheart Jess and I made half a yurt from scratch from our own designs and we even found local folks who mill their own trees and had clear doug fir lumber. Sadly we have need to part with this project because we can't afford to bring out to Minnesota, nor can we drive out just to deliver it somewhere else. It's located in a storage locker in Olympia, WA. We are definitely needing whomever buys it to pick it up in Olympia, WA -- so figure that into the deal. We will meet up with folks who want to purchase it of course (i.e. flying out is cheaper than driving to WA and back with a 20mpg truck).

Here's a picture of the yurt up.

We then painted the crown and the roof poles for durability.

Before painting

Roof poles after painting

Crown after painting

If you imagine the roof poles in the crown and you look up the design is a Sun radiating from the center. Pretty awesome I think.

The dimensions: 17' diameter. 5'7" top of the wall. 9' to the crown.

This is a half finished yurt.

What's finished: The door (which is designed to hold the wall lath and the yurt cover, like most yurts), the roof poles, the crown, and the wall lathe are cut and weatherproofed (with polyurethane).

What's not finished: Putting the wall lathe into a lattice, which means just tying it together most of holes and likely bolting the bottom and tops together for strength (modern yurts all the holes are bolted). My sweetheart is tying a wall lattice together in the first picture; that wall lattice is no good because we stupidly used Boiled Linseed Oil for weatherproofing. We had to start over and used polyurethane instead. There is no cover. We do have three used billboard tarps that can be included (enough to cover the entire yurt), along with some clear vinyl for windows.

What's included : all the hardware to hold the yurt together like aircraft wire, turnbuckles, eye hooks, etc. Additional hardware will likely be needed.

We are going through our receipts and need to figure out a price, but it will not be a steal as we put a lot of blood and love into this project.

We're happy to answer any questions. Thanks for taking a look.

Hello there! Beautiful work that you started. I am moving back to Washington from southern California next spring with my partner who will be attending Evergreen in Olympia. We are looking to buy or lease a nice piece of land and place either a tiny house or yurt on it while he attends school and I work. We are extremely interested in sustainable living, organic farming, natural healing, biointensive gardening, and permaculture. We are young and just starting out but are looking or any opportunities we can find that are a good deal or cheap as we have limited savings. Please let us know if you have not sold your yurt or if you do not need to sell it immediately, if you might still have it next spring. Thanks so much!

Hi,
I'm interested in your yurt. Would you please send me a message when you've figured out a price for it? I've lived in yurts before and seen them being built, so I understand some of the process. I live in Bellingham, WA, and would probably be able to pick up the whole thing in one trip in my van.

I'll PM you my email address, as I don't check Permies all that frequently.

Cheers,
Harper
