MAY ORGANIC GARDENING IMMERSION IN ASHEVILLE
Ashevillage Institute is excited to offer one-month community living immersions this summer as part of the Urban Farm School. Starting in May with Organic Gardening, participants will gain hands-on skills while experiencing life in community while living at the Ashevillage Sanctuary, a beautiful eco-urban demonstration site next to downtown Asheville. The program is hands-on and practical, from seed selection,
compost tea and vermiculture, to systemic regeneration and food shed sovereignty. There will also be plenty of 'down time' to explore the local area.
LODGING AT THE ASHEVILLAGE SANCTUARY
Ashevillage Institute’s headquarters is based at the beautiful Ashevillage Sanctuary LLC. This site will be your living and learning laboratory for the month. The beautifully renovated eco-guest house will be your home. The shared house includes a spacious kitchen, common room, office, 1.5 bathrooms, wifi, laundry facilities and four bedrooms. You will be sharing a bedroom with one or two other participants.
THE ONE-ACRE SITE
Ashevillage Sanctuary is based on a beautiful one-acre eco-urban permaculture demonstration site, featuring a 30,000 gallon rainwater catchment pond system and aquaponic greenhouse [in progress]; edible and flowered landscape; natural building projects; a recycled courtyard with a wood-fired oven. The site is located a few blocks from downtown Asheville and borders 60 acres of woodland trails. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a 8-minute drive away. This is an ideal place to spend a month while diving into a rich hands-on learning and community living experience.
