Hello,
I was educated as a chemical engineer and led research and development projects. I now apply those skills to habitat restoration and regenerative agriculture on a 34 acre property that had been severely abused before I purchased it in 2021. Located about halfway between Seattle and the Canadian boarder, on the Skagit River, the soil is great alluvial loam that I have been building up with compost and cover crops.
There were some existing fruit and nut trees and I have been adding many more + a variety of berries (include less common like sea buckthorn, Himalayan honeysuckle, josta, hardy kiwi, goji...) and grapes. I have several seasonal garden areas - in ground and raised. I am working to introduce new techniques and plants with a focus on perennials. I am also working to improve the habitat for wildlife and planted over 6,000 plants last winter for riparian area restoration and established several acres of pollinator meadow with a focus on late season flowers which are a particular need in the area.
I strive to be an educational/motivational example for others. I eat a mostly plant-based diet + free range duck eggs and occasionally salmon. I produce 80+% of the food I consume and am also donating to friends and the local foodbank.
I am high energy and passionate about all that I do. In addition to the habitat restoration and agricultural work, I am restoring an early 1900's dairy barn, renovating other structures. I also enjoy exploring nature areas with my dog, cooking, reading, dabble in art and woodworking, and continue to be a lifelong learner. I am very nurturing, dedicated to those in my life, very adaptable and compassionate. At times I may be too intense for some and I do need to work on relaxing more.
Most of my adult life I have been in 3 (serial) committed/monogamous LTR's. I hope to find a partner that I can spend the rest of my days with. For me, attraction is dominated by the intellectual and emotional connections.
PS I am also interested in platonic connections with others in the area and also those who may be interested in utilizing some of my land that is currently underutilized.
