Biography
I was educated as a chemical engineer and led research and development projects. I now apply those skills to habitat restoration and regenerative agriculture on a 34 acre property that had been severely abused before I purchased it in 2021. I am working to introduce new techniques and plants with a focus on perennials I strive to be an educational/motivational example for others. I produce 80+% of the food I consume and am also donating to friends and the local foodbank.  I am establishing a small community of like-minded folks on the property but looking for a partner - my husband passed away a few years ago.

I dry extra eggplant (and zucchini) to make chips that are great with hummus or other savory dips.  I find this is a great way to make healthy chips and preserve vegetables for winter consumption

Hello Paul,

I would be willing to host a potluck in Sedro Woolley, WA.  If you have potential interest in coming to the area.  I could also post to the Regenerate Cascadia group and see level of interest.

What are the approximate dates of the trip?

I have a 34 acre property in Sedro Woolley on the Skagit river.  I have owned the property since 2021 and am doing riparian habitat restoration; pollinator meadow creation; row crop cultivation; restoration of an old orchard; cultivation of new orchard and vineyard areas for fruits, nuts and berries; and starting a food forest area.  I am utilizing less common regenerative techniques (ex: use of coffee chaff and wool; 18' deep mulching) and plants (Ex: perennial kale, hardy kiwi, figs, yacon, mashua, okinawan sweet potatoes, etc).

I would be interested in sharing experiences and plant materials with others in the area.

I have underutilized portions of the property that I would be willing to have other utilize under a short or long term agreement.  I also would welcome others to spend time on the property to help with ongoing projects and share in the produce.

Hello Michael,

I'm about 3 hours north of you but would welcome a visit if you are up my way.  I am doing habitat restoration and edible planting.  I am short on N but plenty of P&K; so I have been planting clover, fenugreek, faba & fava beans, Austrian winter peas, etc.  Sorghum/Sudan grass hybrids and rye have deep roots and are a good way to accumulate biomass; because they suck up N that encourages the N fixers to do more.  If available try to get wood chips from arborists or lumber mills and manure from horse or dairy people.

I got a free, used garbage disposal and old sink that is working quite well.  You need to feed in a fair amount of water.  You can immediately apply the resulting slurry or put in a drum to settle.
