I just read this and I thought it was interesting so I am sharing it. This is a method of tracking bees in order to find the hive. You can follow a bee line back to the hive. One method of doing this is to get an old wooden matchbox, and fill it with cornstarch soaked in honey water. set it around where some bees are pollinating flowers. When the bees enter the box they will be colored by the cornstarch. Follow the colored bees back to their hive by moving in the direction that they fly and then repeat the process... be very aware when you find the hive. observe but do not disturb wild hives!

This is called Bee Lining. If you do a search on it you will find other methods and multi-chambered boxes for the purpose. I haven't tried myself.

Luring and capturing swarms has worked for me so I never bothered to learn this skill.
