Salt is extremely usefull, and so I was just wondering how one could make salt without access to the sea?

Mine for it. Its essentially God's geographic lottery that will allow you to mine for salt. The other option is to essentially make table salt, but if you are willing to do this than I imagine it would be more practical to purchase it.
