Greetings All
We’re a Large place with many veggies, medicinals, perennial plantings and Goatey Ma’s an hr from Staunton, Va.
You ask, how can they co- exist? With a Shepardess, my friend.
Goateys dwell in a large secure area, we go out for Browse walks 1-2x a day with our Great Pyrenees dog along miles of farm roads and edge.
6 Does are kidding in March- April  brings 5-6 gal of milk a day for our herdshare market including cheese yogurt, kefir.  Milking once a day by machine. All organic feed. Fun bunch of monkeys. Slow but lucrative market.
We’re working on a new community kitchen with private and common rooms.
Growing everything possible in zone 7. Lotsa small hoop houses & one large. Lotsa irrigation systems, lotsa water ! Lotsa room for your grow projects as well as help with ours. Value added, ferments, Sourdough, kitchen work is great for those hot afternoons. If you’ve never been above zone 4 the peppers & tomatoes are worth a trip.
Every cheese maker keeps pigs for consuming whey. Making  different cheese 4-+ days a week.
This is not a ‘job’ we share our profits, provide food, shelter, your phone bill.  Ver I son phone works best. Rural internet too high priced but Possible.
Best to have a car. Extra $% for Sat farmers mkt set up. Will train. Start Soon. Sorry, no minors.
Meanwhile, we’re growing feed for goats, rabbits, ducks & pigs. Have hay equip yet to polish n run. Enough tractor power to never lift 50#.  Lotsa building materials and improvements everywhere.
Let us know your interest & questions.
Thanks, Best
Chris Bloom

How fresh may we be to the industry of goat farming? I'm a baby permie, but I'd love to learn and take part in this process, as I have aspirations of nurturing an American breed of fiber goats to boost our natural fiber market. Knowing how to make use of all of the goatey blessings would be an amazing opportunity for me. I'd love to throw myself into the deep end here!

Hi Sera
Thanks for your interest. Here we are very hands on with Goatey Ma’s. Maybe fiber goats hang in pasture without much interaction. Have you worked w goats?  Been on a goat farm? Lots to learn just caring for them. And, theres the Milk that needs daily attention. We spend about 5 hrs a day- goat milking, walking, feeding, processing or bottling milk. 7 days a week. Best shared. The trick is- doing the math, the fence, our time, going to town to deliver, freezing surplus. Goats gotta pay their way. Can fiber goats? Know of someone who is making a living w fiber? Many more steps before sales.
Yes, helping an established farm is better than starting from scratch. Tell me more about your capacity to dedicate yourself. The Permie part of permie.

Hi Chris!

Goat girl here, I fell in love with stewarding dairy goats this summer and have since completed two goat mastery courses and currently am working the kidding season where I live. I have experience mucking, feeding, milking, kidding, supplementing minerals, ultrasounding and with some preliminary vet work. Looking to land somewhere I can be a full time goat goddess + have been teaching gardening and permaculture to kiddoes for 6 years, Im  a strong gardener, compost maker and work part time as a chef specializing in foraged and medicinal foods of southern CA. I have a lot to learn as we all do but got a decent amount under my belt, enough at least that I can be helpful!

Shoot me an email if the feeling is right

Hi there!  Goat girl at your service

I fell in love with stewarding dairy goats this summer and have been working along side them for the last six months and have completed a goat mastery course virtually. I have experience kidding, milking + bottling for sale,  mucking, feeding + mineral supplementation, trimming hoofs and ultrasounding pregnant does. I am currently working the kidding season where I live but would love to relocate to a place I can be a full time milk maiden. In addition to my goat experience I’ve been teaching permaculture to kids for 6 years, stewarding learning gardens and small scale food farms, I’m an avid forager and work part time as a chef focusing on medicinal and wild foods. I have a lot to learn of course but I’ve got enough under my belt to be helpful and support the whole where it is needed

Shoot me an email if it feels right
