I've also sprouted my own pistachios from seed, and am expecting to see the same thing once they reach bearing age. Personnally, I would not recommend a ratio as low was 1:24. You've got a lot of time invested in those males, and if you reduce the ratio too low, it will take years to replace them.
I think a better option is to try grafting male branches onto female trees, and also female branches onto the male ones. You'll have a better distribution of male pollunators throughout your orchard, with lower loss of yield. If it works, you might gradually return to the idea of thinning out males, but only after you've observed several years of success. I'd plan on pollunation occurring 100% from wind. I'll be leaving males in all four quadrants to cover pollunation no matter which way the wind blows.
