Wondering aloud here about methods for cleaning toxins from the
water before they enter a built up
pond eco system......
Here in Maine there is a warning about eating lake fish due to mercury and other toxin contamination. i presume that the toxins are endemic to the lakes/bodies of water for the most part, although some must rain down on us from the sky every time the heavens open up.....
But in a new premie
pond with biodiversity and fresh young fish from hatcheries...... Could there be a way through Holzerian Aquacuture methods and Permiculture principles to keep the toxic gick from entering or building up to high natural water body levels.....? Surely this would be worth any extra added effort and the fish raised in such a system would bring a premium... or would that be a premie-yum...if sold on the market.....
I know there are classes of soil bacteria which
feed on...or enable the breakdown....of heavy metals in to more benign substances... Could they be brought to bear on the mercury in a pond? Are there plants or stones which act as toxin accumulators or help clear away toxins?
Thoughts and suggestions, please.
