I'm trying to find a coop design I'd seen on the Internet some time ago.
If I remember correctly it had a wide hinged door under the roosts where litter could be shoveled out easily.
The roosts were hinged so they could be lifted up, out of the way.
I don't recall if the compost pile in the run was part of the design or how I thought it could be used.
Anyone have a link to this ?
Perhaps it wasn't so good after all if my google cannot locate it very easily
Everything you mentioned can be easily integrated into any coop. Elevating the coop area where they sleep and put chicken wire or hardware cloth for the floor will allow most droppings to fall through. It will compost if left but new will be added daily.
I put a ply wood panel on the side with a hinge along the bottom. Open that panel and a rake can go in to scoop what doesn't fall. It congregates at the floor joist.
