While working in the yard yesterday, I stumbled across a nest of wild baby rabbits in the middle of the yard. (Literally. No broken bones or sprains, but I wasn't exactly graceful in my recovery.)
Sadly, one of the little guys did not survive the encounter. Since I had disturbed the nest, DW and I got on teh Intarwebz and started looking for advice on what to do for the others.
We put a tic-tac-toe pattern of twigs across the entrance so we could tell if the mother returned to feed the babies, but it has not been disturbed in over 24 hours.
We contacted the local wildlife rescue organizations who are (predictably) swamped with all kinds of critters this time of year.
They gave us a shopping list of things to buy, told us the harsh realities of trying to save wild baby bunnies, and wished us luck.
While DW is off to buy the stuff on the list, I'm posting here on the chance that somebody might have that one bit of info that saves the poor little guys.
