We are a homestead farm, very chill and also we know how to work hard when it's time. We have a full time intern/farm helper who's become part of our household on a permanent basis. She's got the loft until winter then will move into the house.
We just built a fabulous small rustic cabin space that would be perfect for an additional farm helper through October. This high ceiling cabin is 12X12 feet, set off from our main living space at the edge of a gorgeous ravine in the woods.
The new cabin is very beautiful bright and clean. A bonus is, the composting two seater toilet which I call the Temple due to it's incredible energy is nearby for night time visits. You will have your own space in this scenario, while participating in all our farm activities, including meals, movies, internet, and going to the Cherry Plain State Park lake which is located only 10 minutes from us.
Originally I planned to store hay here, but as with the loft, with the addition of bright roofing allowing sunlight, and a lovely old window, this space is now officially a cozy private human spot to sleep, read, and write in. High ceilings give this space a feeling of brightness that is indescribable.
As you'll see by my other posts, we share the house communally. The right farm helper will be active in her/his own life, have transportation, funds for food, plenty of energy for activities such as hiking, kayaking, biking, be a happy independent soul and also cooperative, believing and living cooperative principles for intentional community. Each of us have tasks, and you will participate in house keeping, animal care, fermenting, tincture making, wild herb harvesting, garden harvesting, and all food processing for the winter. If you are an avid reader, you will appreciate my vast library.
As with all potential farm helpers, we ask for ID and references before a visit, you come for an initial visit. Then, if we are a fit, you can join our small homestead community. This offer is good through October, after which the space will again be available once it's warm enough as there's no heat in this small cabin. Since we have three dogs, five cats, four llamas (one pregnant I think) and many bees, we can talk about another pet but it's probably not going to happen. If you have allergies, this is not the place for you. Pollen makes bees happy, and cat hair is a given LOL.
Please contact me asap if you think you might be a good fit for this opportunity. I'm posting on Wwoofers also, so if you are a woofer feel free to contact me from that site too.
